New Equal Housing Lender Poster For Federal Credit Unions
Blog posted by John ZasadaThe National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) recently updated the Equal Housing Lender poster to include a new mailing address.
The rules, updated in the Federal Register Rules and Regulations Part 701.31, require federal credit unions that engage in real estate-related lending to post a notice of nondiscrimination. The notice must be posted in the public lobby of the credit union and in the public area of each office where such loans are made, and must be clearly visible to the general public.
The poster includes an address consumers can use if they believe they have been subjected to discrimination, and wish to file a complaint. The address had previously included NCUA’s Office of Examination and Insurance, and is now NCUA’s Office of Consumer Protection.
This rule change only applies to federal credit unions. State-chartered credit unions should still follow HUD’s requirements for the equal housing lender poster.
